If you wish to renew your driving licence issued in any EU country, you should make an appointmentes with the Provincial Traffic Officees.
If you live in Spain, you do not have to provide additional proof of age , but you have to undergo a medical examination to renew the licence.

Replace a lost driving licence
If you lose your driving licence, please contact the Provincial Traffic Officees to request a copy. Please make an appointmentes or call tel. 060.
To replace/exchange a lost, stolen, damaged or destroyed driving licence, you must provide:
- Official application form es
- Fee of EUR 20
- Valid national identity card, passport or residence permit
- 32 x 26 mm recent colour photograph
- The original driving licence (in case of damaged licence)
EXCHAGING A DRIVING LICENCE FROM COUNTRIES WITH A LICENCE EXCHANGE AGREEMENT
You will need to make your appointment by calling 060 or online at DGT’s website (www.dgt.es)
DOCUMENTS REQUIRED
1. APPLICATION FORM: the official application form is available at any Provincial Traffic Headquarters and available online at DGT’s website (www.dgt.es) It includes a declaration in writing stating that the holder’s right to drive has not been withdrawn by virtue of a court decision, that the person does not hold any other driving licence issued within the EU or EEA of the same category as the one requested or that has been restricted, suspended or revoked and that the applicant is responsible for the authenticity and validity of the driving licence to be exchanged and TALÓN FOTO duly completed.
2. FEE II.1: € 92,20 when the person will need to take a practical driving test.
FEE II.3: € 28,30 when the person does not need to take a practical driving test.
Three methods of payment: online www.dgt.es, by bank card at Traffic Departments and by direct debit from a bank account or in cash at financial institutions (model form 791 available at Traffic Departments and on www.dgt.es )
3. PROOF OF IDENTITY AND RESIDENCE:
− DNI or PASSPORT: valid and original
− AUTHORISATION FOR RESIDENCE or IDENTITY DOCUMENT of the country of origin or PASSPORT together with the CERTIFICATE OF INSCRIPTION IN THE ALIENS’ CENTRAL REGISTER for EU foreign nationals: original and valid.
− AUTHORISATION FOR RESIDENCE for non-EU foreign nationals: original and valid.
4. TELEMATIC MEDICAL FITNESS TEST (Authorised Drivers Check Centre).
5. DRIVING LICENCE: valid original licence and a photocopy.
6. PHOTOGRAPH: an original 32 x 26 mm photograph in colour and taken against a plain background, facing forward without anything covering the head, without sunglasses or tinted glasses or any other item which may
prevent or make the identification of the person problematic. Veils may be acceptable in photographs of applicants who, for religious purposes, wear a head covering that obscures their hair, with the only limitation that their full face must be visible from the hairline to the bottom of the chin so as not to prevent or make the identification of the person problematic.
SPECIAL CASES
REPRESENTATIVE: Where the documentation is not submitted by the holder of the driving licence, the person representing him/her must present his/her official ID card and a written authorisation of the holder to complete the procedure, specifying that it is free of charge.

The submission of documentation supporting the registration data (address) and IAE (trade tax) may be replaced by an express authorization so that the Directorate General for Traffic can verify such information by telematic means.
For that purpose, the applicant must tick the appropriate box in the application form or fill in the express consent form available at the DGT’s website or at the Traffic Departments. If DGT does not receive valid information, the applicant must submit documentation in order to remedy this situation.
